A black bear mother bites this branch off with the tip of her mouth like a human would bite off the end of a carrot. She is wanting to bring the fruits of this balsam poplar closer, and biting off the branch allows her to pull the branch in with ease. A bear has a very powerful bite and instinctual problem solving capacity in its' environment.
